For pickup drivers, long-term durability is one of the most significant indicators of overall quality. Because pickup drivers submit their vehicles to some of the most demanding driving of all, they absolutely need every component of their truck to last, even under extreme conditions. To this end, GM has introduced the all-new GMC CarbonPro bed, raising the bar for durability within the truck segment.
The CarbonPro box boasts high-strength and low-weight carbon fiber composite materials for added strength and rigidity and reduced weight. The result is the most rugged pickup box available on the market.
GM performed a number of extreme tests on the CarbonPro box during development. Researchers dropped cinder blocks onto the box from an elevation and unloaded 1,800 pounds of gravel into the bed. They even filled the box with water-filled steel drum barrels weighing 450 pounds each.
Carbon fiber is naturally corrosion-resistant, but GM tested out the corrosion-resistance of the CarbonPro bed nonetheless. Researchers exposed it to extreme temperatures and subjected it to the most drastic climates in North America.
Finally, GM tested the CarbonPro bed’s resilience by driving a snowmobile with metal studs into the bed. The result? You guessed it: the all-new CarbonPro bed took it in stride.
