Autonomous driving and artificial intelligence are no longer material from science fiction novels – and Toyota is ready to highlight how much this advancement can improve everyday life.
The Japanese carmaker recently introduced the all-new Toyota LQ Concept Car. Displayed earlier this year at the “Future Expo” special exhibition of the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, this concept car looks to take the bond between car and driver to an entirely new – and more emotional – level.
“With the LQ, we are proud to propose a vehicle that can deliver a personalized experience, meet each driver’s unique mobility needs, and build an even stronger bond between car and driver,” said Daisuke Ido, LQ development leader.
The Toyota LQ combines automated driving options with “Yui,” an artificial intelligence-powered interactive agent designed to discover the driver’s habits, learn from them, and provide a personalized driving experience for each individual driver. Yui looks to engage the driver in a variety of ways, including interactive voice communications, lighting, fragrances, air conditioning, and in-seat functions that reduce stress and increase the driver’s alertness behind the wheel.
The AI will also choose the music you want to play based on the driving environment, and will even give you real-time information on topics you’re interested in. With this driver-focused, emotion-based AI interface, Toyota is changing the way we think of our vehicles, bringing us into the future of transportation.
