If you don’t want to compromise on either quickness or efficiency, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Prime is a thrilling development. Arriving at dealerships this summer, this plug-in hybrid compact SUV comes with a 302-horsepower engine that can go 0-60 mph in just 5.7 seconds — and it also yields up to a manufacturer-estimated 94 MPGe in combined city and highway driving.
The RAV4 Prime pairs a retuned 2.5-liter gas engine with electric motors, an enlarged underfloor lithium-ion battery, and an efficiency-enhancing heat-pump HVAC system. This powertrain offers outstanding range, letting you drive the RAV4 Prime for up to 42 miles in all-electric mode.
The RAV4 Prime also comes equipped with electronic on-demand AWD, which uses an electric motor to send power to the rear wheels as necessary to provide superior traction. This system also features a selectable Trail mode to reduce wheel spin if the vehicle gets stuck.
Toyota is offering the RAV4 Prime in a pair of sporty trims: the SE and the XSE. The SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, unique exterior accents, and interior features like heated front seats and a power liftgate. The XSE offers available two-tone exterior colors, 19-inch wheels, a moonroof, and an expanded 9-inch touch screen.
Each RAV4 Prime model also features a suite of standard Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 systems, including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.
The 2020 RAV4 Prime will be available soon at Iowa’s Motor Inn of Carroll, and we look forward to getting you behind the wheel of this advanced SUV.
