New Ford F-150 Lightning Already Gets a Power Bump

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning | Spirit Lake, IA

It’s finally here. The new Ford F-150 Lightning, the only full-size electric pickup truck with a starting price under $40,000, is ready to revolutionize how you work. And already, it’s better than expected.

According to the American automaker, both the standard and extended-range battery packs will deliver more horsepower than originally anticipated. When the truck was announced in May 2021, Ford had said the standard battery pack would produce 426 horsepower while the extended-range pack would produce 563.

Now these numbers have been bumped up to 452 and 580 ponies, respectively. Better yet, both packs can produce up to 775 lb-ft of torque, more than any other Ford F-150, and putting the F-150 Lightning at the forefront of electric towing capability.

Thanks to those increases in power, the F-150 Lightning’s towing capacity has been raised by an additional 2,235 pounds. It can also haul an extra 235 pounds compared to the original target.

“We were seriously focused on raising the bar on this truck, including after we revealed it, so we can deliver more for our customers,” said Dapo Adewusi, F-150 Lightning vehicle engineering manager. “And our drive for continuous improvement will get a big boost when we start getting feedback and ideas from customers when they receive their Lightnings.”

Ford F-Series Is America’s Bestselling Truck for 45th Year in a Row

Ford F-Series Is America’s Bestselling Truck for 45th Year in a Row | Spirit Lake, IA

It’s no accident or matter of chance that makes the Ford F-Series America’s bestselling truck for the 45th year in a row. The kind of future-looking foresight that’s kept the F-Series atop the truck market for so long continues into 2022, guiding it into a new era of electrification.

Last year, Ford sold an impressive 726,004 F-Series trucks in America, once again putting it in the driver’s seat among all trucks and all vehicles. By outselling the No. 2 truck by 156,616 units, the F-Series also secured its 40th straight year as America’s bestselling vehicle overall.

And all that momentum will carry over into 2022 thanks to the massively popular F-150 Lightning. Arriving later this spring, the first-ever electric F-150 lives up to the Built Ford Tough® moniker with massive power, hardworking capabilities, and long-range zero-emissions capabilities.

Not to be outdone, the Ford F-150 continues to set the table for what’s possible among full-size trucks. With features like Pro Power Onboard, BlueCruse hands-free, and SYNC® 4 — not to mention class-leading towing and payload — the latest F-150 represents the cream of the crop.

The new “Can Strike Anywhere” campaign from Ford lets you see and experience the all new-F-150 Lightning wherever you are. Partnering with Google, Ford launched a three-dimensional, augmented reality experience so you can see all the features and tech of Ford’s truck of the future.

“There is a tremendous amount of intrigue about what electric vehicles can do,” said Suzy Deering, chief marketing officer, Ford Motor Company. “At Ford, we want to show, not just tell since we believe educating customers on the full potential and capabilities of electric vehicles helps them make the transition from traditionally powered vehicles to all-electric ones.”

Ford felt compelled to create the 3D visual experience to help the reservation holders of the F-150 Lightning™ better understand the features and ownership benefits of an electric truck. According to Ford, 80-percent of the drivers who have reserved the innovative truck have not owned an electric vehicle before. This campaign is another tool to highlight the F-150 Lightning including its battery range, towing capabilities, mega power frunk, charging solutions, and connectivity tech in the interior.

Users can also customize the look and feel of the F-150 Lightning with color choice and trim package. Then, they can “see” how the truck performs in the “real world.”

New Hybrid Ford Maverick Is the Most Fuel-Efficient Truck Ever

Hybrid Ford Maverick | Spirit Lake, IA

Pickup trucks are very useful to drive here in Spirit Lake, especially for carrying equipment or towing a trailer. However, most trucks burn through gasoline so fast that you practically have to refill the tank every time you start the engine.

If you want to drive a fuel-efficient truck that conserves gas, you should take a look at the new Ford Maverick. It has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that comes standard on the base model, so you don’t have to pay extra for great fuel economy.

And that’s what you’ll get from the hybrid Ford Maverick, as it averages 40 mpg in city driving.[1] That makes it the most efficient truck on the market, with fuel consumption rates that rival most sedans.

The compact pickup truck still has the strength to haul 1,500 pounds in its bed and tow 2,000 pounds from its hitch. So, if you don’t plan on going grueling work with your truck in Iowa and just need the vehicle for its bed, the Maverick may be the truck you need. It’s a versatile truck, especially with its FLEXBED™ system that enhances storage solutions and organization.
