History of the GMC Denali

History of the GMC Denali Lineup | Estherville IA & Knoxville IA

The history of the GMC Denali dates back to 1999. Since then, the development of the Denali has turned it into one of the best pickup trucks and SUVs on the market. These steps throughout the past 20 years have placed the Denali at its peak:

The first instance of the Denali name can be traced back to the 1999 GMC Yukon. In an attempt to steal customers away from the Lincoln Navigator, the top trim level of the Yukon was called the Denali. The Denali trim level had improved wheels, front and rear heated seats, a Nuance leather upholstery, and a BoseĀ® seven-speaker audio system.

The 2001 Yukon Denali redesign saw the introduction of the iconic honeycomb grille which later became synonymous with the Denali. 2002 brought the genesis of the GMC Sierra, which was the second model added to the Denali name. 2011 brought along the Acadia, the Terrain emerged in 2013, and in 2016 the Canyon was introduced.

Denali models now carry a wide range of attractive features. Noise cancellation, aluminum trim and wheels, and stitching and trim details which are unique to GMC now come standard with the Denali. 20 years of excellence have made the Denali one of the most refined and luxurious truck and SUV trims on the market.

Experience the Denali for yourself when you stop by one of our Motor Inn locations in Estherville, IA, or Knoxville, IA, to test-drive a Yukon or Sierra version of this offering.
