Ways to Stay Cool in Your Car This Summer

Stay Cool In Your Car | Motor Inn | 5 Locations In Iowa

Now that it’s summer, the temperature is rising and so is the temperature of your car’s interior. If you are sick of being hit with a heat wave every time you open the car door, consider trying these tips to stay cool in your car.

Cover the Steering Wheel

We’ve all been there — the car is parked directly in the sun, and as a result, the steering wheel is unbearably hot to the touch. You can prevent this from happening in the future by keeping a small towel in your car and using it to cover the steering wheel when the car is parked.

Park in the Shade

Sunshine is nice, but it has a lot to do with heating up a parked car. If and when you can, park your vehicle in the shade. Even if you have to walk a little more, the shady parking spot will be worth it, as your car will be much cooler when you return.

Invest in a Sunshade

If you can’t find shade to park in, a sunshade can serve as a decent substitute. Some sunshades are designed to not only shade from sun rays but to reflect them, offering optimum shading and cooling.

Although we do have frigid winters in Iowa, we at Motor Inn of Spirit Lake know just how unbearably hot it can get in the summer. We hope these tips help keep you and your vehicle cool this summer.
