If you have dreamed of having a hands-free driving experience in your GMC truck, you will not have to wait much longer. General Motors has announced that the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali will be getting the advanced Super Cruise technology.
Super Cruise technology has been available within the General Motors brands for a few years now. When activated, it allows you to drive hands-free on more than 200,000 miles of limited-access freeways in the United States and Canada.
Super Cruise uses GPS, camera, and LiDAR map technology to monitor your surroundings. It looks for road markings to help you stay within your lane and works with adaptive cruise control for steering, braking, and accelerating.
While this might make you think you can take a snooze on your way to work, you still must pay attention to the road. The system uses driver-monitoring technology to make sure you stay alert and focused. If you look away from the road for too long, the system will alert you to put your hands back on the wheel.
If you are anxious to try out Super Cruise technology before 2022, it will be available on the all-new GMC Hummer EV later this year. Super Cruise sounds like the perfect addition to long family road trips and cruising around Iowa from Estherville to Knoxville.
The 2022 GMC Sierra isn’t out yet, but you can check out the latest Sierra 1500 models at Motor Inn of Spirit Lake.
